Had tonight's game against the Cardinals not ended with the Phillies' bases loaded, the loss probably wouldn't have made me want to go buy a gun.
Had the Phillies not hit back-to-back-to-back homeruns to tie the game in the fifth, I wouldn't be in such pain right now.
Had Pat Burrell been lucky enough to get a head start when catcher Mike Matheny missed the ball (or had he simply taken the last pitch), the words you are now reading would not be here (at least not in this order).
But these things happened, and so we must go on.
Kudos to Abreu, Thome, and Burrell for their homeruns. They certainly made the game more interesting. But honestly I don't think this is the last time it will happen this season. Then again, hopefully we'll win the game the next time it does.
GameStar will go to Abreu this time, simply because he hit two homeruns in the game. It would be nice not to have to rely on the long ball so much, but I'm not about to complain just yet. Nice hitting Abreu. And keep up the good work in the field.
I am lacking the energy to say much else about this game. But I will say that it was again nice watch Burrell rob Rolen of another solid hit when he gunned him down at second base. Sure, the runs scored and the damage was done, but it was at least a nice way to end the inning and was somehow reminiscent of Rolen's stolen HR last week.
Hernandez and Cormier looked pretty good on the mound too.
Where's Ricky Ledee('s face) when you need him.
