I suppose the stain will simply make the brick a bit darker, but I wanted to address this issue because that brick wall in center field is (so far) my least favorite thing about Citizens Bank Park.
Before the stadium was built, the 3D images of the proposed park showed that wall as being green.
But when the park opened, there was a clear difference. Now it was just a plain brick wall.
This is all fine and good, I suppose, because "Ashburn Alley" is on the other side, allowing fans to read all about former Phillies teams.
No offense to Whitey (may he rest in peace), but I'd rather this space just be open. At the very least they could decorate the brick with something, and I hope they do. Right now it's just a brick wall, and while I can see the nostalgic old-ballpark value to it, it's not exactly aesthetically pleasing. Hell, put a bullseye out there with Ricky Ledee's face on it. Batters will hit that thing like crazy.
I'm just offering my creative input, people. I welcome your suggestions at any time.
